Description

Whether you're just getting started on the road to retirement or racing to the finish line, Portico's Pre-Retirement Seminar can give you a clearer view of the journey ahead. And this year, we are expanding the invitation to include members and their spouses ages 40+. Join us for the morning session, afternoon session, or both — whatever best fits your retirement planning needs.

In the morning, we'll focus on saving and investing for retirement. This session addresses these important questions, and more:

  • How does retirement fit in with my other financial priorities?
  • How much do I need to save for retirement?
  • How should I invest my retirement savings?

At 12:30 p.m. we'll break for lunch. We invite all attendees — morning, afternoon, or all day — to join us. This is a great time to connect with other participants and hear a brief message from your bishop or synod staff.

In the afternoon, we'll explore ways you can live well and create sustainable income in retirement. In this session, we'll address these important questions, and more:

  • How can I distribute income from my ELCA Retirement Plan account?
  • How much can I expect to receive from Social Security?
  • What health care options will be available to me after I retire?

FAQs

Is there any pre-work to complete before I attend the seminar?

Yes! To get the most out of both morning and afternoon sessions, we suggest that attendees complete the pre-work before the event. Upon registering for the event, you'll receive a follow-up email with instructions to complete this assignment.

Will there be time for individual conversations during the event?

No, unfortunately there is not enough time to meet with each person individually. While there will be time to ask individual questions, we believe that one-on-one retirement planning conversations are best done with a financial planner. After the seminar, a Portico Financial Planner will contact you to schedule a conversation about your unique planning needs. Just bring your questions and appetite to learn.

What is the cost to attend?

To help defray costs, we collect a registration fee of $35 per person for the whole day, or $20 per person for those attending a single session.

What meals will be provided?

Lunch and refreshments will be served. When you register, please let us know if you plan to join us for lunch.

What is the registration deadline?

Please register by Jan. 21, 2019.

Is there a minimum attendance requirement?

Yes, we must have at least 30 registrants one month prior to the event or we may need to cancel. Please invite your colleagues and promote the seminar by sharing this webpage with them.

If the event is canceled or changed, will Portico reimburse my registration fees, hotel costs, and travel expenses?

In the event of a change or cancellation, Portico will refund registration fees but cannot reimburse participants for hotel or travel costs.

Do I need my ticket?

No. You do not need to present your Eventbrite ticket on the day of the event.
